Growing estate: the new acquisitions add to Punch's portfolio of around 1,300 sites (Punch)

Punch Pubs & Co has acquired four sites from Leicester-based business Everards.

The Old Kings Head in Long Buckby, the Paget in Loughborough, the Cricketers in Leicester and the Dog & Gun in Whetstone have joined Punch’s leased and tenanted estate.

According to the business, the latest deal supports its ambition to grow its estate through quality acquisitions, bringing its total acquisitions for the current financial year to 13.

Investment and support

Punch group property director Stephen Allen said: “We are delighted to welcome these four fantastic pubs into the Punch family and would like to thank Everards for this opportunity.

“Our priority is to ensure all four pubs continue to flourish within their communities and with our industry-leading investment and support. We are confident they will continue to thrive.

“Our operations manager Christian Gregory is working with the publicans and their teams to ensure a smooth transition and set each pub up for continued success.”

Everards managing director Andy Wilson thanked its business owners and wished them all the best with Punch.

Company investment

He added: “We’ve invested £3m into our pubs over the past 12 months and this sale will enable us to continue this momentum.

“We want to thank the Punch team who have been great to deal with.”

In September last year, Punch added 14 pubs to its estate after its acquisition of the Milton 1 & 2 portfolio from real estate investment company Aprirose.

In October 2024, Punch then revealed it expected to deliver an additional £2.3m in profits in its new financial year, following 18 acquisitions in the first quarter.

This year, the group is focused on growth, Punch CEO Andy Spencer told The Morning Advertiser in January.

At the time, he added: “While we are optimistic about the year to come, we’re also realistic there are some bumps in the road, we’re not blind to that but there is opportunity.”
