Current chair Mark Robson is stepping down later this year following two terms in the position.
Robson, who took up the role in 2018, has provided invaluable support to current CEO Steve Alton, who joined in 2019, and previous CEO Mike Clist, helping to shape the organisation into what it is today.
The voluntary role, which oversees the BII board of trustees, includes working with the senior team to support the promotion of events, activities and initiatives, to build and enhance the reputation of the trade body.
Role responsibilities
Other responsibilities include holding the BII CEO and senior leadership team to account on all areas of operational and financial performance and working with them to advise on key policy ideas and initiatives.
Furthermore, the chair is expected to represent the trade body publicly in the press and media, attend key BII events, oversee its financial performance and provide key operational experience and insight.
Interviews will initially be held online on Monday 23 June and Tuesday 24 June, with in person interviews to follow at the BII offices in Fleet on Tuesday 1 July.
CVs and covering letters should be sent to BII head of communications Molly Davis.
Recently, the organisation joined forces with the Licensed Trade Charity to help more businesses thrive by supporting the wellbeing of those who run them.
Joining forces
The strategic partnership aims to provide pub people with easy access to expert help including practical business guidance as well as personal wellbeing support.
The two organisations are formally working together in a bid to ensure no one in the sector has to face challenges alone.
One key objective is to ensure people seek help before an issue develops or someone finds themselves in a crisis and unable to cope.
This means pub operators, managers and colleagues will have a greater opportunity to get confidential, professional advice on issues such as managing finances, coping with stress and handling difficult business decisions.
