Lucky Saint and Burnt Chef to train Incipio staff on mental health

Those moderating their alcohol intake are the “new vegetarians” who will influence which pubs and bars their wider group will visit on a day or night out.

Low & no beer brand and pub operator Lucky Saint is putting mental health front of mind after joining forces with The Burnt Chef Project to train Incipio Group staff.

The multi-year partnership will see Incipio employees receiving mental health training that will be delivered by The Burnt Chef Project, the social enterprise on a mission to overcome mental health stigma.

Incipio – which was a finalist in the Best Drinks Offer category at The Publican Awards 2025 – was established in 2015 by Charlie Gardiner and Ed Devenport, who run seven sites across London.

The training, which is in collaboration with The Burnt Chef Project, will upskill individuals on how best to recognise and approach mental health challenges at all of Incipio’s sites.

This follows on from Lucky Saint’s work in the space over a number of years. Lucky Saint has worked with Mental Health First Aid England and Elevo, training hundreds of hospitality professionals across a range of businesses, including Honest Burgers, Hawksmoor and Wahaca.

Social connection

Lucky Saint people director Sacha Harvey said: “Mental wellbeing training is something we’re passionate about at Lucky Saint. We believe the greatest reward of drinking is the social connection, and we understand the positive impact that connection and conversation can have on our mental health.

“We’re proud to partner with Incipio, who are showing their commitment to mental health wellbeing in the workplace.

“We hope that the training will impact not only those trained, but have a ripple effect for their wider network across the hospitality industry, be it colleagues or customers through the door”.

Incipio people director Josie Adams added: “We’re committed to creating a culture where our team feels values and supported. Partnering with Lucky Saint reinforces our focus on wellness, ensuring we break down barriers around mental health and equip our teams across all venues with the tools to support one another.

Fantastic step

“This training means we have a healthier, more aware team. With that brings better engagement, stronger attention and a more positive culture, benefitting both our people and guests.”

Meanwhile, The Burnt Chef Project CEO and founder Kris Hall said the charity is committed to helping break down the barriers surrounding mental health in the hospitality industry.

He added: “Partnering with Lucky Saint on this initiative is a fantastic step towards creating healthier workplaces. By providing mental health training to the Incipio team, we’re not only giving them the tools to recognise and support each other but also showing that mental wellbeing should be at the heart of every hospitality business.

“It’s our mission to make sure no one in the industry feels alone in their mental health journey.”
