A statement shared on the social media of the Ram Inn, Cliviger stated high drinks prices “drove locals away”.
The pub, which is owned by Stonegate Group, is situated in the surroundings of the Cliviger gorge, near Burnley.
The post on social media said: “It’s with deepest sadness that we have to formally announce after almost one year that we will be leaving the Ram Inn.
“It has been in most part, an extremely enjoyable period for us all and this was not an easy decision to make.”
No other choice
It added: “However, all businesses must be profitable and we tried many different avenues for this to happen. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work out that way for us.
“With being tied to the brewery and therefore prices having to remain high for our wet products, we could not compete with other businesses.
“We are fully aware the prices droves locals away but we had no other choice.
“We are sure Stonegate will put the pub into fresh hands and we hope it is a huge success for the new owners, locals and Stonegate alike.”
The post also thanked those who who had supported the pub and wished everyone the best for the future.
Great opportunity
It said: “Should anybody require anything, there will be one of the managers living on site until the day of changeover.”
The pub is described as a “great opportunity for an experienced food operator”, according to the Stonegate Pub Partners website, where its annual forecast turnover is £606,450 with a guide rent per week amount of £807.
Furthermore, comments from a regional manager said the site had a great reputation locally and was waiting for an experienced operator to develop the offer and take the business to the next stage.
The Morning Advertiser contacted Stonegate but had not received a response at the time of publication.
