JD Wetherspoon to open new pub in Fulham
Estate expansion: the new JDW site will create 90 new jobs (JDW)

JD Wetherspoon (JDW) is opening its new pub next week (Tuesday 8 July) after spending £3m developing the site.

The new venue, which will be called Walham Green is on Fulham Road and will create 90 new jobs, is close to Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium in London.

It has been named after the village that occupied what is now Fulham Broadway.

It comprises the Grade II-listed former entrance building and ticket hall of Fulham Broadway tube station.

The baroque-style entrance was designed by railway company architect Harry W Ford, built in 1910 on the site of the original station entrance.

Opening hours

Walham Green pub will open from 8am until 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday and from 8am to 12.30am on Friday and Saturday with food served throughout the day from opening until 11pm daily.

Real ales and traditional ciders will be the site’s speciality alongside craft and world beer, serving a wide range of different draught ales as well as bottled beers including those from local and regional brewers.

Furthermore, it will be open for family dining with children, accompanied by an adult, welcome until 10pm throughout the week.

The Walham Green is on two floors and features an outside roof terrace on the first floor.

Pub décor

Historical photos and local history details as well as artwork and local images and characters will be displaying alongside artwork commissioned by local artists.

The pub’s previous life a a station will be recognised through retro train signage on display inside and outside of the site.

Manager Ryan Way said: “Myself and my team are looking forward to welcoming customers into Walham Green and we are confident the pub will be a great addition to Fulham’s social scene.”

May this year saw JDW announce it was opening a new pub in Merchant Square, Paddington, also in the capital.

The company said it was spending £1m on developing that site, creating up to 50 jobs.
