Pub behemoth JD Wetherspoon (JDW) is selling a portfolio of pubs that have been identified for disposal.

The six sites are a mixture of three freeholds/virtual freeholds and three leasehold units ‘in busy locations across the UK’.

They are being considered for sale either individually, in small packages or as a portfolio.

The pubs are:

  • Babington Arms, Derby - two-story terrace building
  • William Jameson, Sunderland - ground floor pub with basement
  • Water Gate, Barnstable - end of terrace building on ground and two upper floor levels
  • Baxter’s Court, Hackney - three story building
  • Grey Friar, Preston - occupies ground floor and part of the first floor of a detached, two storey property
  • Kentish Drovers, Peckham - occupies ground floor and basement of a four storey building

Substantial and well-invested sites

According to the JDW disposals website, the properties are ‘substantial, landmark public houses, with a high standard of fit out in high profile locations’.

JDW has appointed CBRE and Savills to sell the sites.

Savills director Paul Breen said: “These substantial and well-invested pubs are likely to appeal to a broad range of potential buyers.”

The sites will appeal to a broad audience, according to CBRE senior director Toby Hall.

Ideal properties

He added: ”These pubs are all in long established and proven trading locations, making them ideal for both existing pub operators and new entrants."

Earlier this month (July), JDW announced it was opening a new site after spending £3m developing it.

Walham Green on Fulham Road, London spans two floors and features an outside roof terrace on the first floor.

The pub has been named after the village that occupied what is now Fulham Broadway.

It comprises the Grade II-listed former entrance building and ticket hall of Fulham Broadway tube station.
