The George Inn, Norton St Philip in Somerset was named AA Inn of the Year for England.
Inspectors praised the Butcombe Group-owned site for its “wonderfully warm and engaging atmosphere” and its “very committed team making every effort to ensure a relaxed and rewarding stay”.
General manager Linda Johnson said: “We’re over the moon to have been named England’s AA Inn of the Year.
“The team work tirelessly to give our guests the very best experience when they stay with us - from the fabulous food coming out of the kitchen, award-winning Butcombe beer pouring from our taps, stunning rooms and our top-notch hospitality.
“A huge thanks to all the team, this is for you!”
Recognition received
The Riverside at Aymestrey in Herefordshire took home the title of AA Sustainable Champion of the Year.
The pub is no stranger to awards having previously been named Best Sustainable Pub at the Great British Pub Awards
The AA said the 16th century inn embraced a strong commitment to sustainability, outlining how the pub sources much of its fruit, vegetables and herbs from a large on-site kitchen garden.
AA inspectors also highlighted how its eco-conscious approach extends through the entire operation, “with efforts focused on reducing environmental impact, minimising food waste and implementing advanced composting practices”.
The team was overjoyed to receive the recognition, according to a post on the pub’s social media.
World-class businesses
AA Hotel & Hospitality services managing director Simon Numphud said: “These awards shine a light on the brilliant people and places that make Britain’s B&B scene truly world class.
“Whether it’s a warm welcome in Scotland a design-led retreat in England or a culinary gem in Wales, this year’s winners represent everything that’s special about independent UK hospitality.
“They go beyond offering a bed for the night - they offer character, comfort and care that stays with you long after check out.”
All B&Bs are invited to attend the annual AA Hospitality Awards on 22 September, where an ultimate winner in each category for a AA Inn of the Year, AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year and AA Bed and Breakfast of the Year will be announced.
