The move has been made in a bid to champion the beer style that the brewer says is “fast becoming the popular choice among younger drinkers”.
The West Country-based brewer is also giving away free pints during Cask Ale Week, which began on Thursday 18 September and runs through until Sunday 28 September.
Butcombe’s two new beers are Brewers Strength that Butcomber describes as a seasonal beer and Bitter Melissa, which was created by Melissa Eveleigh, a leading voice for women in beer.

Butcombe said: “This limited-edition cask ale isn’t just a great pint, it’s part of a bigger movement to bring more diversity, representation and fresh perspectives to British brewing – a tribute to true craftsmanship over convention.
Inclusivity celebrated
“Originally created as part of the Wetherspoon’s Women in Beer series, Bitter Melissa celebrates inclusivity in an industry long-dominated by men. Brewed by a woman, made for everyone – it’s a tribute to true craftsmanship over convention.
“Only available in cask, this stand-out ale is ideal for pubs looking to offer something with character, cause and incredible flavour. Stock Bitter Melissa this season and tap into a growing demand for great-tasting, consciously brewed, and conversation-worthy beer.”
Also being celebrated are Butcombe Original – the South West’s favourite beer, the ever-popular Butcombe Gold and Rare Breed – Butcombe Brewing Co’s collaboration with farmer and TV personality Adam Henson.
Complimentary pint
In further celebration of all things Cask Ale, the Butcombe Beer Club has made a return to mark the occasion and customers can visit any Butcombe Pubs & Inns site from 1-30 September and, for every five pints purchased, drinkers earn a complimentary pint to redeem up until 19 October 2025.
Butcombe Group brand manager Simon Dehany said: “Cask Ale Week is the perfect time to explore and enjoy the distinctive range of our Butcombe beers and to celebrate the incredible talent we nurture here.
“We’ve long been recognised for our dedication to real ale, our innovation and preservation of traditional brewing methods, so what better way to celebrate Cask Ale Week than to raise a glass or two.”
