London-based business Inception Group reported total group revenue of £28.9m in 2024 - up 9.4% from the previous year in its latest financial update, where it also revealed future growth plans.

The group saw like-for-like revenue rise by 6.4% and a 3.4% increase to £3.1m in earnings before interest, taxation, depreciated and amortisation (EBITDA).

Inception Group concepts:

Barts - Inception Group’s first venue, Bars on Sloane Avenue was inspired by 1920s Chicago gangers Uncle Barts, allowing visitors to step back in time to the 1929 Prohibition era.

Bunga 90 - recently refurbished, Bunga 90 celebrates the 1990s on the site formerly known as Bunga Bunga in Covent Garden, offering retro cocktails and draught beers.

Cahoots - the original site launched in 2015, modelled on a 1940s disused underground Tube station in Kingly Court. Cahoots: Postal Office in Borough, inspired by the post-war postal service followed in 2024.

Control Room B - located in Battersea Power Station, the venue opened in 2022 and is 1950s inspired. An immersive experience where guests can enjoy coffees and cocktails as well as an audio-guided tour around the original dials and an escape- room-style, code-breaking experience.

Maggies - this year sees the 80s inspired nightclub in Chelsea celebrate its 15th anniversary. It features murals of icons of the decade and themed drinks including Jaws and Super Mario-themed cocktails.

Mr Fogg’s - a collection of Victorian-inspired pubs and bars, themed around Jules Verne’s Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 days. There are nine of these sites around the capital from Liverpool Street to Mayfair.

Moreover, the company stated forecasts for 2025 suggested revenue could exceed £30m for the first time.

In March this year, the group announced an extensive refurbishment of its Bunga Bunga in Covent Garden with the site relaunching as ‘Bunga 90′ this month (September).

Pressure on margins

Prior to this, October last year saw the business open Cahoots: Postal Office in the Borough Yards development in the capital, which has been modelled on a vintage post office, with guests transported back to 1946.

Inception Group co-founder Charlie Gilkes said: “2024 saw strong like-for-like revenue growth and in October of last year we opened our second Cahoots location in Borough Yards, which continues to trade beyond expectations.

“Margins came under pressure in 2024 due to a multitude of cost inflation. Total group revenue will exceed £30m for the first time in 2025 and margins have started to improve.

“In September of this year Bunga Bunga relaunched as ‘Bunga 90′, a completely reimagined concept with incredibly promising early signs.

“We will shortly be announcing some exciting pipeline sites for 2026.”
