Celebrating success: this year saw pubs across the country honoured at the Great British Pub Awards (The Morning Advertiser)
The Great British Pub Awards have again shone a light on the best of the UK’s pub scene with winners spread far and wide.
While the coveted title of the Great British Pub of the Year was awarded to Crown Wharf in Stone, Staffordshire, other category winners located across the nation were also honoured.
While the overall Great British Pub of the Year and Best Town Pub - Crown Wharf - is in Stone, Staffordshire, neighbouring county Derbyshire was home to two winners.
Admiral Taverns Pub of the Year Gasoline is in Chesterfield and the George is in Castleton in the Peak District’s Hope Valley.
Heading west, this year’s Best Pub for Dogs the Old Duke is located in Southport, Merseyside while west of here - Leeds, the city where the Great British Pub Awards ceremony was also held - is also home to Pinnacle Sports & Games, named the Best Pub to Watch Sport and just outside of the city is the Best Pub Garden, the Myrtle Tavern in Meanwood.
The most northern winner this year is Blind Jack’s in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, which was named the Best Beer Pub.
At the other end of the country, the most southern champion is Chaplin’s & The Cellar Bar in Boscombe, Dorset, which took the title of Best Community Pub.
A couple of counties over in West Sussex, the Anglesey Arms in Halnaker, the 2025 Punch Pub of the Year.
Moving one county north, the Star in Godalming, Surrey also saw success when it was named Greene King Pub of the Year.
The capital is home to two of this year’s winners - the Perry Hill Pub in Perry Hill, which was the Best Pub for Families and on the outskirts of London is the Fox Pub & Dining, Keston, which was presented with the award of Stonegate Pub of the Year.
Over in the West Country, Bristol’s Keynsham Courtyard is this year’s Best Pub for Entertainment while in the Cotswolds, the Bull in Charlbury, Oxfordshire took the title of Best Pub for Food.
The West Midlands and surrounding area saw success with Worcestershire-based venue the Fleece Inn named Best Country Pub, the Black Pug in Warwick presented with Star Pub of the Year and the Manor House of Whittington the Marston’s Pub of the Year 2025.
