Fresh food manufacturer Higgidy is taking over a pub in London next month, offering a pint and a pie for £10.

Higgidy, known for its range of pies, will open The Higgidy Arms near Holborn in West London at lunchtime on Thursday 23 October.

For one day only, guests will be able to book a table at the pub, located at 64 Theobalds Road, for a pie served with a choice of side dishes, including mashed potatoes, fries, vegetables and gravy, plus a pint of Guinness for £10.

Take-away hot and cold pies will also be available for just £2 each from the pop-up. Tables for the Higgidy Arms can be booked via Eventbrite.

Variety of pies

With Higgidy’s culinary team leading the charge in the kitchen, the five pies on offer will include Higgidy’s new Steak & Guinness Pie, Creamy Chicken & Sauteed Leek with white wine, Slow-Cooked Steak, Red Wine & Bacon Pie with chestnut mushrooms.

There will also be two vegetarian options available, Spinach, Greek Feta & Pine Nut Pie with roasted red peppers and Three Cheese, Cauliflower & Broccoli Pie with garlic & thyme crumb.

The launch follows the success of Higgidy’s pop-up pie shop in January this year to mark National Pie Day. The shop, also in situ for just one day, saw both hot and cold pies sell out 1000 pies in 4 hours.

Higgidy’s senior brand lead Pamela Bower-Nye said: “It was fantastic to see queues around the block at our pop up shop earlier in the year.

Expert team

“We hope that our pub experience in October will be just as popular and can’t wait to welcome customers in from the cold to enjoy a hearty pie lunch, served up by our expert team.”

Though Higgidy are not the first business outside of the pub sector to open a venue in the on-trade.

Earlier this week bakery chain Greggs also revealed plans to open its first pub in Newcastle, serving a range of beers inspired by its products.

In 2023, Tesco took over the Castle pub in Farringdon, central London for two days to celebrate the King’s coronation.

Meanwhile, last October, car booking app Uber opened a London venue, which it claimed was the capital’s ‘first carbon-negative pub’.
