Diageo’s Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Covent Garden is set to open its doors just before Christmas (Thursday 11 December).

The 54,000sq ft venue is on the site of the Old Brewer’s Yard in The Yards and includes a microbrewing facility with limited-edition brews.

Master brewer Hollie Stephenson, who previously was at the helm of the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, will lead the microbrewing facility.

Beers will include seasonal specials including non-stout varieties and low alcohol options with premium lager, session IPA, pale ale and porter also available on a permanent basis.

Tour experiences will feature brewery access, tasting room sessions and guests will also be able to pour their own pint at the 232 Bar.

Food offering

Furthermore, two restaurants will be on site - Gilroy’s Loft and The Porter’s Table - both led by chef Pip Lacey.

Casual courtyard dining will also be on offer at Old Brewers Yard with pints and pies by Calum Franklin.

Visitors will also be able to purchase merchandise from two retail outlets - Guinness Good Things and The Store.

Next year, the site will be hosting community and consumer events across music, culture and entertainment.

Years in the making

Guinness GB marketing director Deb Caldow said: “The Guinness Open Gate Brewery London has been years in the making and we’re thrilled the moment has almost arrived.

“We can’t wait to welcome Londoners and visitors from around the UK and the world. We consider this Guinness’ home in the UK, hosting in the country’s dynamic capital city.

“It will be a place to celebrate heritage, embrace innovation and invite visitors to discover new flavours, experiences and stories.

“Good things really are coming.”

Diageo first revealed plans to open the site back in 2022, when it announced it would be investing more than £70m into a microbrewery and culture hub.

It has predicted the venue will create up to 250 jobs and attract half a million visitors a year.
