The partnership sees the former Paxton pub at 255 Gipsy Road transformed into a cultural and social hub operated by the MOBO Group with support from Greene King’s leased and tenanted division, Pub Partners.
Celebrating inclusivity
Closed for more than two years, the site has undergone a full refurbishment led by Greene King, featuring a bold new design intended to celebrate inclusivity, collaboration and creativity. The pub will host live music, creative showcases and community events alongside a globally inspired food and drink offer.
The launch also coincides with MOBO’s 30th anniversary in 2026, which will see a series of cultural and community-focused events taking place throughout the year.
‘Unlocking talent’
Greene King CEO Nick Mackenzie said: “Our partnership with the MOBO Group is about creating opportunities and unlocking underrepresented talent in our sector. This new pub will be a shining example of how locals can bring people together – providing a space to celebrate culture, champion diversity and deliver a warm, welcoming hospitality experience for everyone.”
MOBO founder and CEO Kanya King CBE added: “The House of MOBO is a bold new chapter in our story – a place where culture, creativity and community come together under one roof. For three decades, MOBO has been about opening doors and building platforms, and now we’re extending that spirit into the heart of the high street.”
The project builds on Greene King’s ongoing partnership with MOBO’s MOBOLISE initiative, which supports mentoring and career development for underrepresented talent.
