The Prince of Wales “absolutely loves pubs” and said he wants to help them, according to reports.

He described pubs as “crucial” for human contact and the beating heart of communities, The Telegraph reported.

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited community-run pub the Gothenburg, known locally as the Goth, in Fallin during a trip to Scotland.

According to The Telegraph, the royal pledged to help pubs and described them as “crucial” for human contact and the beating heart of communities.

Previous royal pub visits

Last year, the Prince of Wales visited the Two Brewers in Windsor, Berkshire during filming with Eugene Levy for the actor’s third season of The Reluctant Traveller on Apple TV+, which aired in October 2025.

One of the smallest pubs in Windsor, the micropub has attracted new trade from as far as the US since their special guests popped in.

The visit took place last February and the pub has since commemorated the event with a plaque at the table the Prince sat at and enjoyed a pint of cider.

Licensee Stuart O’Brien told The Morning Advertiser how footfall increased as a result of the programme.

Trade boost

He said: “Our trade in the week has improved a lot where more tourists are coming to visit. People from all over the world are coming through to sit where they sat.

“On the weekends, more people from this country are coming in because they’ve seen the show and they’ll come in and take pictures and send them around to friends and family.”

Furthermore, in 2023 the Prince and Princess of Wales visited a London pub ahead of the King’s coronation.

The royal couple travelled on the Elizabeth Line to the Dog & Duck pub in Soho, to share their appreciation for those serving the nation over the bank holiday.

During the visit, Prince William tried his hand at pulling a pint of the pub’s “specially brewed” and aptly named Kingmaker.
