Butcombe Group has announced two senior leadership changes as the business continues to push growth across its managed, tenanted and brewing divisions.

CXO appointment

From 1 February, Cat Moseley will move into the newly created role of chief experience officer, overseeing group marketing alongside her existing leadership of the people function.

Moseley joined Butcombe two years ago and has since played a key role in elevating the group’s people strategy. Under the new position, she will align colleague and guest experience by bringing marketing and people under a single leadership structure.

Richard Maslin has been appointed group property and commercial director, adding responsibility for the group’s tenanted division.

Maslin, who has been with Butcombe for almost six years, has led estate planning, investment strategy and several major acquisitions and integrations. He brings extensive sector experience across property, operations and commercial leadership in pubs.

Consistent experience

Chief executive Jonathan Lawson said the appointments strengthen the group’s ability to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience across its estate and support the next phase of growth.

“As we come to the end of a busy and successful year, these appointments further strengthen our senior leadership team and reinforce our commitment to delivering a best in class experience for both colleagues and customers,” he said.

“Cat’s new role reflects the huge impact she has already made across the business, and her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to elevate our people proposition and enhance the guest experience. Richard has been a driving force behind our growth, and his expanded remit will ensure we continue to invest in and develop our portfolio.”

The changes follow a period of strong momentum for the group. Earlier this month, Lawson outlined plans to build on the brand’s “premium food-led pubs with rooms and great legacy in brewing.

The announcement also follows COO Jayson Perfect’s intervention earlier this week, where he urged the Chancellor to rethink how pubs are taxed and regulated and called for a “holistic and fair” approach to business rates in a detailed letter to Government.
