While three course set menus remain a staple, many pubs are widening their appeal through flexible pricing, extended availability, party-led events and destination style food and accommodation packages.
National pub companies
❤️ Greene King
Greene King is positioning Valentine’s as an inclusive occasion across its estate rather than a formal dining event. At the Punch & Judy in Covent Garden, menus are available from 12 to 14 February, with guests able to choose two courses for £22 or three courses for £28. The offer combines familiar pub dishes with optional steak and fish supplements, alongside spritz serves and Champagne upgrades. Messaging explicitly welcomes couples, families and friendship groups.
Within Greene King’s pub and carvery format, the Myllet Arms Pub & Carvery is also taking a relaxed approach. Valentine’s is presented as an opportunity for comfort food, drinks and informal dining, whether for a romantic meal, a catch up with friends or a visit centred around its carvery offer.
❤️ JD Wetherspoon
Value led Valentine’s trading remains central to Wetherspoon’s approach. Across most of its estate, the operator is running its returning ‘two dine for £25’ promotion on Saturday 14 February. The deal includes two main meals, two desserts and two drinks, with an optional Prosecco upgrade available. The offer reinforces Wetherspoon’s focus on accessibility and volume rather than premium occasion dining.
❤️ Shepherd Neame
Shepherd Neame is using Valentine’s as an opportunity to showcase the breadth of its estate. A three-course set menu priced at £40 per person is being offered across a number of pubs and hotels, including coastal venues, village inns and destination sites such as the Bell Hotel in Sandwich, the Royal Albion Hotel in Broadstairs and the Ship & Trades in Chatham.
❤️ Fuller’s
Rather than focusing solely on dining, Fuller’s has published a Valentine’s events programme spanning its estate. Offers range from Galentine’s get togethers and comedy nights to tea parties, positioning Valentine’s as a social and entertainment led occasion as much as a food driven one.
❤️ Vintage Inns
Mitchells & Butlers’ Vintage Inns is running three course Valentine’s menus from £30 at sites including The Admiral Rodney and The Hillside Inn on 13 and 14 February.
The menu combines classic pub dishes with more premium options, including chicken liver and fig pâté, fritto misto and scallop, king prawn and crab coquille starters, followed by mains such as slow cooked pork belly, rib eye surf and turf, sea bass with king prawns and pan roasted duck breast. Vegetarian options are also available.
Desserts include sticky toffee pudding, bourbon apple tarte tatin and a chocolate trio, allowing sites to drive spend beyond the headline price point.
❤️ Smaller operators
Smaller operators are often taking a more flexible or creative approach to Valentine’s.
The Jolly Coopers Pub & Fuzzchat Brewery is running a Valentine’s dinner on Saturday 14 February, offering a three course set menu from £32 per person, with optional wine pairings available.
The menu begins with bread and butter, followed by starters including king prawns in bacon with lemon aioli and Camembert for two with hot honey and toasted nuts.
Mains range from côte du boeuf for sharing, served with bone marrow and beef tallow chips, to chicken supreme with truffle cream. Desserts include white chocolate and berry cheesecake red velvet pot de crème and a cheeseboard.
At the Wharf Pub in Grays, Valentine’s is being framed as a party rather than a dining occasion. The pub is hosting a Valentine’s Party Night from 7pm to 1am, with singles, couples and groups of friends aged 18 and over welcomed. With music, dancing and a prize incentive for guests dressed in red, the event positions Valentine’s as a wet led, late night trading opportunity rather than a food driven one.
The Ship in Stock, which is owned by Punch, is offering a three course Valentine’s menu priced at £47 per person, available 12 to 14 February and including a hugo spritz or negroni on arrival.
Starters include grilled goat’s cheese with Waldorf salad, haggis bonbons, chicken and wild boar pâté and crab fishcake with hollandaise. Mains span British rack of lamb, Gressingham duck breast, pan fried monkfish and a Korean chicken burger.
Desserts include lemon meringue tart, sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble tart and chocolate brownie, with a cheeseboard available at an additional charge.
❤️ Top 50 Gastropubs
At the premium end of the market, gastropubs are continuing to use Valentine’s as a showcase moment.
The Unruly Pig, ranked second in the latest Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list, is running an £85 per person Valentine’s tasting menu across the Valentine’s weekend, alongside a separate three course set menu on Saturday 14 February.
Destination led dining is also prominent. The Angel at Hetton, ranked sixth in the Top 50 Gastropubs, is offering Valentine’s stay and dine packages combining overnight accommodation, a tasting menu, English sparkling wine and handmade chocolates, positioning Valentine’s as a short break rather than a single meal.
Daytime dining also features among Top 50 operators. Parkers Arms in Clitheroe, ranked seventh in the list, is offering two Valentine’s options on 14 February.
A four course Country Pub Pie Lunch is priced at £120 for two, beginning with house made sourdough and followed by starters such as smoked Scottish mackerel and game terrine. The mains centre on pies in hot water crust or all butter pastry, including local estate venison, Malham pheasant or Lancashire cheese, with Yorkshire rhubarb desserts or the pub’s signature ‘Tiramilova’ to finish.
Alongside this, a six course Lunch & Supper menu is available at £160 for two, featuring estate shot Bowland venison, Manx queenie scallops, wild duck and day boat halibut or turbot, alongside a Baron Bigod soufflé and Valrhona chocolate desserts.
The Dog at Wingham, ranked 12 in the most recent Top 50 Gastropubs list, is offering a Celebration Menu priced at £65 per person on Saturday 14 February. The menu includes premium sharing dishes such as côte de boeuf, lobster and beef wellington.
Valentine’s Day 2026 highlights a continued diversification in how pubs approach the occasion.
While set menus remain important, operators across the market are increasingly broadening the offer through value led deals, extended trading windows, party nights and destination dining, allowing pubs to capture a wider range of customers and trading patterns around the date.
