Punch Pubs remains committed to expanding the business including across the border in Scotland, which is a “significant area of growth”.

The past two years have seen the pub company announce a flurry of acquisitions across the business.

Punch head of acquisitions Andrew Cannons said: “As we look ahead to the coming year, our commitment to growing both our leased & tenanted and management partnerships estates remains strong.

“With two new acquisition managers joining us, the team, as of March, will grow to six, enabling us to identify and secure high-quality pubs at a greater pace.

“We are also placing a strategic focus on Scotland, which we see as a significant area of growth and opportunity for our business.”

Business expansion

This comes after the business acquired 30 pubs from McMullen’s earlier this month (February).

The sites included the Millstream in Hertford, the Great Eastern Tavern in Hereford and the George IV in Sawbridgeworth, all of which were described as having strong trading histories, established community positions and distinctive heritage.

Punch said the deal represented a small but strategically important addition to its estate as it continues to pursue targeted acquisitions alongside organic growth.

Last year, the group acquired a number of pubs. This included single sites such as the Swan in the Bushes in Loughborough, which it acquired from cask Rock Brewery in March.

In August alone, six new pubs joined the estate including the Maverick in Stourbridge, the Hanlon in Birtley, Chester-Le-Street, the Cob & Pen in Rhyl and the Red Lion in Leek as well as two community pubs in Worcester - the Kings Head and Ye Olde Anchor Inn, both in Upton upon Severn.

Trading update

This was alongside multiple-venue deals such as four pubs from Leicester-based business Everards in April - the Old Kings Head in Long Buckby, the Paget in Loughborough, the Cricketers in Leicester and the Dog & Gun in Whetstone.

In a trading update this month (February), Punch highlighted it was targeting further acquisitions as trading momentum funded expansion.

Furthermore, it reported improved trading in the 16 weeks to 30 November 2025, with the operator pointing to like-for-like growth, pub conversions and acquisitions as key drivers.
