The pub in Fritham in the New Forest is known for championing exceptional local food and drink and, according to Hydes Cyder, which also produces a medium dry cider at 5% ABV, “installation of Hydes Lyte on tap reflects both the growing consumer appetite for premium non-alcoholic alternatives and the pub’s long-standing commitment to supporting independent regional producers”.

Hydes Cyder co-owner Lucy Lundberg said: “We’re absolutely delighted the Royal Oak has become the first venue to pour Hydes Lyte on tap.
“Its decision to install a dedicated alcohol-free and local font shows real leadership in responding to changing drinking habits.

Provenance and quality
“As an independent, family-run pub with such a strong commitment to provenance and quality, they are exactly the kind of partner we love working with. Seeing it on tap in such an iconic New Forest location is a proud moment for our brand.”
Meanwhile, the Royal Oak operator Cathy Wilson explained the pub’s remote location means people travel to the site by foot, horse, bike or car.
“We have always, where possible, supported independent producers and pride ourselves on offering a fantastic variety of high-quality food and beverages from the local area,” she added. “We believe it is important to acknowledge changing drinking habits and we are very excited to be able to offer alternatives that fit well with our ethos of showcasing exceptional local produce.
Perfect fit
“Hydes Lyte non-alcoholic cyder will be a perfect fit for our bar as this is a delicious and refreshing alternative to a traditional cider.”
Hydes Lyte is crafted using the same wild fermentation process as Hydes’ alcoholic cider, and is said to deliver “bright apple character, depth and a clean finish, without the alcohol” and uses English orchard apples and traditional bitter-sweet varieties.
During recent renovations, the Royal Oak installed a new font dedicated exclusively to alcohol-free and local products. The addition of this tap line allows the pub to respond directly to increasing customer demand for high-quality non-alcoholic options while maintaining its strong commitment to supporting independent regional producers.
