The City of London will be home to a new American-Irish pub and clubhouse shortly after Easter when the Horsemen & Fitzgerald’s opens its doors.

The site, which will be located at 1 Broadgate, promises a traditional Irish freehouse with screens showing live horse racing, draught Guinness and an extensive whisky and Bourbon selection in the Horsemen side while Fitzgerald’s will serve an “all-day Kentucky-to-Dublin grill menu” put together by executive chef Esteve Prats Grau.

The Horsemen is set to open on 7 April with Fitzgerald’s following on 13 April and will open from Monday to Friday each week, targeting City professionals, horse-racing enthusiasts and American-Irish customers in London.

‘Jockey club-inspired’ dining

13th Street Hospitality Group, which is operating the dual concept, said: “Set within one of the Square Mile’s most prominent addresses, the site is split into two distinct yet complementary spaces.

“The Horsemen, a traditional Irish freehouse at the front, and Fitzgerald’s, an intimate jockey club-inspired dining room at the back. Together, the space offers a layered experience that moves seamlessly from relaxed pints to polished clubhouse dining.

“The Horsemen presents a welcoming freehouse, blending classic Irish pub character with a contemporary City sensibility. Alongside live screenings of horse racing, The Horsemen will specialise in draught Guinness and a comprehensive selection of Irish whiskies and American bourbons, positioning it as both a neighbourhood-style local and a destination for race-day gatherings.”

Menu options

Executive chef Prats Grau told The Morning Advertiser: “Our menu is about two food cultures that have more in common than people realise: generosity, good produce, and cooking that brings people to the table. Whether you start your morning here or end your evening with a Guinness and a measure of Bourbon, we want every guest to feel the warmth of that story.”

Fitzgerald’s will seat up to 45 guests at one time and is a formal dining experience. Prats Grau’s dishes will include sharers such as Kentucky-fried chicken, lamb shank pie and a selection of Irish beef steaks. Turbot cassoulet with espelette sauce will be joined by desserts Bourbon chocolate truffles and Kentucky derby pie.

For lunch, a set menu will be available where guests can enjoy dishes such as grilled bavette steak and chicken Milanese while breakfast plates include American waffles with chocolate praline and an Irish breakfast featuring black treacle bacon, fried eggs, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, black pudding, hash browns and farls.
