The brewery, based in Masham, first released its Barista Stout in 2015 but has now dropped the nitrogen infusion so cask lovers can enjoy the beer.
The brewery said Barista Stout 4.2% ABV is a velvety, coffee-flavoured stout brewed with caramel and vanilla notes, hints of dark berry fruits and a bold espresso aroma.
It will be available for pubgoers to enjoy in traditional hand pull casks as the brewery’s seasonal cask beer for April and May.

Cask ale revival
As well as its cask launch, Barista Stout is also set to be made available in can format for the first time in the US, with the first shipment arriving in the States this month (March).
Theakston’s said: “Across the market, pubs and bars are experiencing a cask ale revival and having reported double-digit growth for traditional ales including its Old Peculier and Theakston XB over the past two years, Theakston’s cask launch of Barista Stout demonstrates the brewery’s ongoing commitment to strengthening this market’s future.”
Theakston managing director Richard Bradbury said: “The reception Barista Stout continues to receive is fantastic and we’re proud to now be offering it in cask for the very first time.
Dark beers bring new fans
“As more drinkers turn towards darker beers and stouts, this naturally brings more people into the cask market, which is a positive for breweries like us and for the great British pub.
“At heart, we will always be a cask first brewery and are passionate about the continued success of this market and growing cask volumes across our range.”
Theakston’s was founded in 1827 and, as a sixth-generation family brewer, it counts Old Peculier as its flagship beer but also makes Theakston Best, Theakston Peculier IPA, Theakston Dark Mild, which it claimed is the only nationally available mild variant in the UK, and Theakston Nowt Peculier 0.0% ABV.
