The Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) has launched a nationwide fundraising initiative aiming to raise £250k to support people working across the licensed hospitality sector.

The run will see participants take on a 900-mile relay from John O’Groats to Land’s End (JOGLE) over 30 days, running from 13 July to 11 August this year.

‘First of its kind’

Described as a first-of-its-kind challenge for the industry, the initiative is designed to boost wellbeing, strengthen community connections and raise funds to expand the charity’s support services.

The launch follows a period of increased demand for support, with the charity having helped tens of thousands of people across the sector in 2025 through financial, emotional and wellbeing services.

Organised in partnership with Strava, the campaign is backed by Lucky Saint, Avani Solutions, Thatchers Cider and Star Pubs.

The core relay will be led by ultra-marathon runners covering an average of 32 miles per day, with some stretches reaching nearly 37 miles. Alongside this, a series of community days will take place at locations across the route, with pubs acting as central hubs for activity.

These events are intended to encourage participation from hospitality teams, local residents and wider communities, with opportunities to run, walk, volunteer or support the challenge. The charity said the initiative aims to highlight the role pubs play in promoting connection and wellbeing, while providing a platform for the sector to come together.

A virtual element will also run alongside the relay, allowing participants across the UK to take part via a dedicated Strava challenge.

Vital funds

Joby Mortimer, director of charity operations at the Licensed Trade Charity, said: “We’re thrilled to launch this epic fundraising challenge. Not only will the LTC JOGLE Pub Run help us raise vital funds, allowing us to support even more people in the sector, it also creates an opportunity to bring communities together through a positive wellbeing activity, while highlighting the important social value of pubs.

“There are opportunities to get involved whatever your running, jogging, or walking ability, so we encourage everyone across the sector to take part.”

The LTC supports licensed hospitality workers through financial, emotional and practical assistance, with demand for its services continuing to grow amid ongoing cost pressures across the sector.

The initiative also comes as the charity continues to expand its support services and long-term funding model, including investment in its education arm to provide sustainable income and extend support to hospitality workers and their families.
