Professionals at Play has acquired a third London site for its Roxy Ball Room brand, with the operator set to open a new venue in Old Street this July as it continues to expand in the capital.

The venue, formerly occupied by Bounce, is located at 241 Old Street and spans around 13,500sq ft. It follows the launch of Roxy Ball Room’s flagship St Mary Axe site in 2025, with a further Holborn opening also planned later this year.

The new site will feature a range of the brand’s competitive socialising offers, including American Pool, duck pin bowling, tech darts, tech shuffle, karaoke and basketball, alongside a central bar and food offering.

Founded in Leeds by brothers Matt and Ben Jones in 2013, the business now operates 19 venues across its Roxy Ball Room and Roxy Lanes brands under parent company Professionals at Play.

The business rebranded from Roxy Leisure Holdings to Professionals at Play in 2024 as part of wider expansion plans, bringing together its Roxy Leisure and Pins Leisure divisions under one group structure.

Experience-led growth

The acquisition strengthens the group’s presence within London’s competitive socialising market, with the operator continuing to target high-footfall city locations suited to both corporate and consumer demand.

Managing director Ben Turnock said: “London has been a key target market for the business, and the strong performance of our existing site has given us the confidence to accelerate our expansion plans in the capital.

“Old Street is a fantastic location and, alongside our St Mary Axe and Holborn sites, will ensure that Roxy Ball Room is present in some of London’s busiest areas.

‘Continued demand’

“We’ve seen continued demand for competitive socialising experiences that combine gaming, food and drink in one destination, and we’re excited to bring the brand to another major London location in 2026.”

The opening comes amid continued growth in the competitive socialising sector, with operators increasingly investing in experience-led formats designed to drive longer dwell times and higher spend.

Earlier this year, Professionals at Play was shortlisted in two categories at the Publican Awards 2026, including Best Experiential Operator and Best Pub Brand/Concept for its Roxy Leisure business.
