Almondsbury Creative
The Almondsbury Creative has transformed itself from a traditional social club into a multi-use hospitality venue and pub that has entertainment at its heart.
It runs a range of regular events including DJs, karaoke, as well as family activities such as bouncy castles and its Creative Kids Club, which has become a cornerstone event running every Friday and attracting 300 guests.
In the past year, it has launched a structured programme of competitive eating events, now featuring 11 different challenges turning food into live entertainment.
The Bristol-based venue has also focused on the delivery of large-scale events, positioning the pub as a destination for major community entertainment experiences.
Black Swan Public House & Theatre
This pub and its adjoining theatre is run as a Community Interest Company, with a mission to create a welcoming, accessible and supportive space for the local community.
The North Walsham pub has transformed a separate building into a fully functional theatre space, complete with stage, seating, lighting and changing facilities for visiting acts.
Its programme of entertainment includes everything from drama, comedy, live music, tribute performances, cabaret, theatre and film screenings. The pub works with professional and amateur performers creating opportunities for customers to enjoy entertainment from experienced to emerging talent.
The theatre space also hosts a range of community events providing a haven for local groups.
The Blue Bell
The Blue Bell is a traditional village pub with entertainment forming a huge part of its offer to the community and surrounding areas.
The Stony Stanton pub has helped its own music festival called Bellfest, which is now in its third year. It provides free live music with four bands, food vans, an outside bar and face painting in the car park. It also runs its annual Boots & Beats Country Music Festival.
But it is not just the festivals there is a calendar of social events such as quizzes, singo bingo, open mic, Psychic Suppers, and its popular Cheeseboard Tuesdays, which also has live music every quarter including a Sea Shanty folk group.
The Milbourne Arms
Situated in the centre of Carlisle, the Milbourne Arms is a pub that has a strong entertainment offer.
It offers a range of popular events at a low cost that bring customers old and new to the pub.
It recently started a monthly “Thursday Murder Club”, which has seen its Thursday nights fully booked as the pub turns into an incident room to solve the latest murder.
Other events include Tap Takeovers, where a local brewery hosts’ its cask taps and provides ‘meet the brewer.’ There is also everything from Sunday Lunch with Santa, to a Eurovision Party, Sip & Sketch events, Book club, Northern Soul, Kids Crafts and Rock n Roll Bingo. Its themed Bottomless Brunches have also proved popular.
The Ship Inn
The Ship Inn is a 17th century pub situated in the beautiful Cornwall harbour of Porthleven.
The pub, which is built into the cliffside, has entertainment as a major focus all year round. Whether that is events for visiting tourists in the summer months or its local customers, the pub offers everything from live music to its popular weekly quiz.
In the past year it has run everything from a pastry making competition, to chilli eating, a shanty festival, a fringe festival to the Porthleven food festival to fortnightly music jam nights to gig nights, bingo afternoons and jukebox nights.
