New site: Liverpool brewery launches crowdfunder for first pub (Colbier Brewery)

Colbier Brew Co has launched a crowdfunding campaign to open its first pub in Childwall, Liverpool.

The brewery is aiming to raise £15,000 to help convert a former retail unit on Queens Drive into a micropub called the Common Time.

The venue will be located south of Liverpool city centre and is being designed as a community-focused pub with a traditional and relaxed feel.

Colbier said the site would serve independent beer alongside wines, spirits, soft drinks and snacks, with a focus on small and independent suppliers.

Community focus

The brewery was founded by Mike and Vik in early 2024 and has since distributed its beers nationwide.

In 2025, Colbier was named the UK’s Best New Independent Brewery by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA).

It has also collaborated with breweries including Abbeydale Brewery in Sheffield, Vibrant Forest in Southampton, Barney’s Beer in Edinburgh and Fell Brewery in Cumbria.

Project owner Vik Williams said: “Pubs are the heart of our community, somewhere people can come together. That’s exactly what we want for this place. It’s not going to be just about Colbier beers; it’s going to be somewhere you can come and hang out with whoever. You don’t even need to be into beer, really.”

Independent suppliers

The pub is expected to be family-friendly by day and will work with other small, creative and independent businesses in Liverpool.

The brewery has previously worked with local businesses including Neighbourhood Coffee, Climbing Hangar and Wild Loaf.

Supporters of the crowdfunder will be offered rewards including pub or online shop credit, exclusive beers, tasting evenings and the opportunity to brew a beer at Colbier Brewery.

The campaign is set to run until midnight on 29 October 2026 and can be found here.
