The Staffordshire venue, which won the Great British Pub Awards Best Pub for Beer title in 2024 and is a finalist in the category this year, has continued to build its reputation as a destination for cask drinkers.

Announcing the expansion on Facebook, the pub said cask had always “been at the heart of what we do”, with the additional handpulls providing an opportunity to showcase “the very best” of Britain’s real ale scene.
“From the day we opened our doors, our aim has been simple; serve outstanding real ale in perfect condition and give our customers a reason to keep coming back to discover something new. Expanding the bar is the next step in that journey,” the post continued.
Growing demand
Owner George Greenaway told The Morning Advertiser (The MA) the investment also reflected growing consumer appetite for cask ale and would allow the pub to broaden its range of guest breweries, seasonal specials, locally brewed beers and different beer styles.
He added the Tamworth Tap remained focused on quality, with every beer carefully selected and served in the best possible condition.
“By carefully selecting cask and craft beers from exciting independent breweries and ensuring every pint is served in impeccable condition, we aim to solidify our reputation as champions of ale,” he said.
In its Facebook post, the pub further stressed the expansion was not simply about adding more pumps, but increasing choice while maintaining standards.
National recognition
“Every beer that reaches the bar has earned its place,” it said.
Alongside expanding its cask offer, the pub has maintained its focus on value, with pints ranging from £4.40 to £5.20 and averaging £4.80.
The move will also allow the Tamworth Tap to support more independent brewers while keeping its range “fresh, exciting and constantly changing”.
Its continued focus on beer has helped the pub attract drinkers from across the UK and earn national recognition, including being crowned The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) National Pub of the Year three times in the past four years.
