Erdinger Weissbrau, which takes up a significant area to the north-west of the town, is famed for its wheat beer but has plenty of other variants brewed to exacting standards and purity laws that include its Helles and Alkoholfrei variants.
Providing beers in keg, bottle and can formats to the UK, Carlsberg-Britvic is its distributor and the business is looking to grow further.
The Morning Advertiser (The MA) was invited to visit Erdinger and talk to three of its business leaders in Dr Stefan Kreusz, CEO; Andreas Kahrs, export director; and Sven Gross, senior regional sales director.
The visit to Germany took place at the same time as Herbstfest, which is the town’s version of an Oktoberfest that sees thousands of people dress in traditional costumes of lederhosen for the men and dirndls for the women – and eat classic Bavaruian foods and drink Erdinger beers... usually in a ceramic Mass that contain one litre of beer.
