HOW TO MAKE: Franklin & Sons Mediterranean Spritz

Franklin & Sons Mediterranean Spritz
Drinks Masterclass: How to make Franklin & Sons Mediterranean Spritz (Franklin & Sons)

In this edition of The Morning Advertiser’s (The MA) Drinks Masterclass series, Franklin & Sons shares how to make its “unique and savoury” Mediterranean Spritz cocktail.

Franklin & Sons UK brand ambassador Joe Mantle told The MA the cocktail draws inspiration from Mediterranean aperitif culture, with its savoury flavour profile offering an autumnal take on the classic summer spritz.

Complex flavours

“The Franklin & Sons Rosemary & Black Olive Tonic delivers a distinctive savoury character, while the sweet vermouth enhances its herbaceous notes,” he said.

“As we move from summer into autumn, it offers the perfect transitional serve, appealing to consumers who are looking beyond lighter, more refreshing drinks and towards richer, more complex flavours.”

Mantle added spritzes continue to grow in popularity across the on-trade and introducing innovative twists on the format can help keep customers engaged and drive repeat orders.

Versatile serve

“This spritz has a more premium positioning, which could help operators increase spend as consumers seek out more sophisticated cocktail experiences,” he said.

He also highlighted the serve’s versatility with food, recommending pairings such as olives, charcuterie, focaccia and grilled vegetables.

For operators looking to put their own spin on the drink, Mantle suggested gently squeezing an orange peel over the glass to release its citrus oils before using it as a garnish alongside a lightly charred rosemary sprig.
