A new East London-inspired pub, the Tallyman, is opening in Canary Wharf next week from the team behind Faber, The Somers Town Coffee House and the Victoria.

The waterfront pub on Chancellor Passage will welcome walk ins from 18 September, with bookings from 21 September, and takes inspiration from the area’s dockland heritage.
Its offer will focus on British pub food, cask ales and British brewed beer, alongside British wines and artisan spirits. The venue will also feature live music, quizzes, Sunday roasts and residents’ nights.
The interior will feature rich woods, stained glass and a piano, with an outdoor waterfront space also forming part of the venue.
£2m competitive socialising venue to open in Liverpool
A new £2m competitive socialising concept, Superlekka, is set to open in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle this autumn, creating 30 jobs.
The venue is the latest venture from Golf Fang co-founder Kip Piper, alongside PINS Social Club founders Daniel Gillbanks and David Scowcroft.
Designed as a retro sports stadium, Superlekka will combine interactive games including giant beer pong, quizzes and a supermarket sweep-style challenge, with RFID wristbands providing automated scoring and live leaderboards.
A large central bar will offer cocktails and beer alongside a coffee offer from West Coast Coffee, and will be accessible to customers not taking part in the games.
The venue will initially operate for over 18s before introducing daytime family sessions for those aged 13 and over at Christmas.
Stonegate invests six figures in historic Stratford pub
Stonegate Pub Partners and publican William Farrell have invested a six figure sum in the refurbishment of the King Edward VII in Stratford.
The historic East London pub reopened earlier this month (5 September) after being closed since January, with works including roofing repairs, refreshed interiors, new furnishings and the reinstatement of its trade kitchen.
Original features including tiling, etched glass and period flooring have been retained, while the pub will offer live sport, weekend music and a new menu of traditional East End dishes.
Farrell and business partner Charlie already operate four pubs across Essex and are preparing to take on a fifth in Colchester.
Schofield’s Bar to open first London bar
Manchester’s Schofield’s Bar is set to open its second venue in Covent Garden this November.
Brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield will bring the cocktail bar to the capital following five years operating their original site in Manchester’s Sunlight House.
The pair previously worked at venues including the American Bar at The Savoy, Coupette and Tippling Club before launching Schofield’s Bar in 2021.
The Manchester venue has since featured in The World’s 50 Best Bars and was named the UK’s top cocktail bar in 2024.
The new Covent Garden site, within Shaftesbury Capital’s estate, is expected to open in early November.
Hampshire pub with rooms hits market for £750k
The Binsted Inn near Alton, Hampshire, has been brought to market with a freehold asking price of £750,000.
The country pub, located within the South Downs National Park, includes a bar, restaurant and snug alongside six en suite guest bedrooms, staff accommodation and a large beer garden and terrace.
Planning permission is also in place for eight luxury shepherd’s huts, providing scope to expand its accommodation offer.
The pub reopened following an extensive refurbishment in 2021 and traded until its closure in November 2025.
Christie & Co is marketing the property and will hold an open house on 21 September.
Full Circle to open first pub in Newcastle
Full Circle Brew Co is set to open its first pub at Fenwick Newcastle in October, marking its first permanent venue away from its Ouseburn brewery and taproom.
The pub will take over the former Golden Flake Tavern, which operated as a collaboration between Fenwick and Greggs in 2025.
It will feature 12 taps and two cask lines, serving Full Circle beers alongside rotating guest beers from independent UK breweries, collaborations and tap takeovers.
Newcastle street food operator Peckin’ Order will provide the food offer, including fried chicken and smash burgers.
Founder Ben Cleary said the opening was a “huge moment” for the brewer and would provide a city centre showcase for independent beer.
Campaigners seek buyer for historic Northumberland pub
CAMRA campaigners are calling for a new operator to take on the Star Inn in Netherton, Northumberland, amid concerns over the future of the listed pub.
The village’s only pub has been closed since 2023 and is currently being marketed for sale, with CAMRA’s Pub Heritage Group encouraging experienced operators to consider the site before the current marketing period ends.
Historic England describes the property as a rare, largely unaltered example of an Edwardian pub, with parts of the building dating back to the 19th century.
The property also includes upstairs accommodation, outbuildings and extensive gardens and grounds.
CAMRA warned the site could face redevelopment if a buyer is not secured.
Tain pub sold to new owner
The former Inver Inn pub and restaurant in Tain, Scottish Highlands, has been sold to a new owner who plans to reopen the venue.
The property has been acquired with vacant possession by Sian Douglas, who intends to restore the site as a community pub and dining destination.
The venue previously built a reputation for its food offer and includes a refurbished dining room and lounge with capacity for 24 diners.
Located around 40 miles north of Inverness, the pub also benefits from visitor traffic exploring the North Highlands and NC500 route.
Christie & Co handled the sale for an undisclosed sum.
Flight Club to open 17th UK site in Exeter
Red Engine is set to open its 17th UK Flight Club venue in Exeter this winter, taking over the former Revolution site on Queen Street.
The 11,916 sq ft venue will span two floors and combine Flight Club’s Social Darts offer with its signature Victorian pub and fairground inspired interiors.
The opening will create 50 jobs and marks Flight Club’s second site in the South West, following Bristol in 2021.
Red Engine is also preparing for five international Flight Club openings through its partners in New York, Dallas, Minneapolis, Nashville and Brisbane.
Five Iron Golf opens first UK venue in London
Five Iron Golf has opened its first UK venue at Broadgate Circle in London, marking the start of plans for 10 sites across the country.
The 6,900 sq ft venue near Liverpool Street features eight Trackman golf simulators alongside a full service bar and restaurant and screens showing live sport.
Alongside virtual golf, the technology offers games including football, basketball, hockey, bowling and clay pigeon shooting.
Founded in New York in 2017, Five Iron Golf now operates more than 50 locations across seven countries.
Admiral invests £500k in Anglesey pub
Admiral Taverns and licensees Pauline Nolan and Lee Male have invested £500,000 in the refurbishment of Tafarn yr Orsaf in Llanfair PG, Anglesey.
The village pub reopened on 12 September with new fixtures, furniture and flooring, alongside a new function room and refurbished kitchen.
Its front and rear beer gardens have also been upgraded with new decking and expanded seating.
Nolan and Male, who have more than 25 years of pub experience and operate five other sites locally, will introduce a new food menu alongside live music, karaoke and community events.
North London operator takes on first Star lease
North London pub operator Enda Murray has taken on his first Star Pubs lease, bringing his estate to three sites.
Murray and Star are investing £550,000 in The Ship on Tottenham High Road, which will reopen in early November following a three and a half year closure.
Located close to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the pub will focus on match days, live sport and entertainment alongside a family friendly community offer.
The refurbishment will include a 48 seat ground floor bar, first floor function room, pool and darts areas, new screens and an upgraded 80 seat garden.
Murray also operates Madden’s Bar in East Finchley and The Dog & Duck in Winchmore Hill.
Proper Pubs invests £333k in Denton pub
Proper Pubs has reopened the Coach & Horses in Denton, Greater Manchester, following an investment of more than £332,000.
The Hyde Road pub reopened on 3 September with an updated bar and lounge, dedicated games area, pool table, darts and five screens showing live sport.
Its beer garden has also been upgraded with new lighting, signage and an outdoor screen, with seating for up to 90 customers across the front and rear areas.
Operators Carol Mitchell and Dave O’Casey will run the pub with a focus on live music, entertainment, sport and community fundraising.
The site forms part of Admiral Taverns’ 200 strong Proper Pubs division.
Cosy Club opens first London site
Cosy Club has opened its first London venue at Westfield Stratford City, taking over the former TGI Fridays site.
The venue, which opened on 2 September, features a statement bar, restaurant, raised snug and mezzanine terrace overlooking the shopping centre entrance.
It is the fifth Cosy Club to feature the brand’s evolving new design, following sites in St Albans, Leeds, Manchester and Reading, with Swansea set to follow in November.
The site will trade from breakfast through to late evening, with an all day food menu and cocktail offer.
Managing director Lucy Knowles described the London opening as a “major milestone” for the brand.
Inception Group to open bar at Admiralty Arch
Inception Group is set to open a new bar concept within the Waldorf Astoria London at Admiralty Arch.
The Admiral’s Mess will occupy a 2,400 sq ft space within the Grade I listed landmark and have capacity for 60 guests.
The concept will sit outside Inception Group’s existing brands, which include Mr Fogg’s and Cahoots, and will join new restaurants from chefs Clare Smyth and Daniel Boulud at the hotel.
Inception Group co-founder Charlie Gilkes said the operator had created a “totally unique concept” designed to reflect the history of the site.
The hotel is being restored by Reuben Brothers in partnership with Hilton.
Admiral invests £260k in Desborough pub
Admiral Taverns and licensee Vanessa Amoako have invested £260,000 in the refurbishment of the George in Desborough.
The pub has reopened with new furniture, flooring and décor alongside a new games room featuring pool, darts and screens.
Its beer garden and exterior have also been refurbished, with new signage and seating.
Amoako has worked at the George for more than a decade and has operated the pub as licensee for the past six years, alongside daughters Jodie and Sophie.
The pub will continue to focus on live entertainment, sport and community fundraising.
