The pub group that operates close to 70 sites in London is set to transform the former BrewDog Tower Hill bar into Bat & Ball City.

Due to open on Wednesday 25 November, the new site will join the brand’s existing flagship venues in Stratford and Covent Garden in a move Urban Pubs & Bars said will “mark another significant step in the growth of Urban Pubs & Bars’ entertainment-led offering across the capital”.

The opening will also be the first Bat & Ball venue to showcase a refreshed look and feel for the brand, which the business said is “a more premium pub feel” and will bring together live sport, food, drink and entertainment.

Neo-Gothic building

Occupying an 8,500sq ft space within a neo-Gothic building in Tower Hill, the venue was previously home to BrewDog’s first UK brewpub, which opened in May 2018.

Urban Pubs & Bars said Bat & Ball City is “designed to cater for everything from after-work drinks and smaller group gatherings to large-scale corporate events and Christmas parties… the new venue will offer a versatile entertainment destination in one of London’s busiest commercial districts”.

Urban Pubs & Bars CEO Chris Hill said: “We are excited to grow the footprint of Bat & Ball in London with another iconic location.

Unique proposition

“This represents another flagship venue for the brand and an opportunity to bring our unique experience-led proposition to the heart of the City.”

Founded in 2014 by Nick Pring and Malc Heap, Urban Pubs & Bars said it has grown to become London’s largest independent pub group and “created venues that celebrate individuality, quality food and drink, and a strong sense of place within their local communities”.

The group added: “The continued expansion of Bat & Ball reflects the group’s investment in hospitality with over 70 distinctive destinations across London.”
