Couple banned from UK pubs set to appeal
A couple banned from drinking in pubs are to appeal against the decision.
Robert and Lisa Hughes, from Rhondda, south Wales, were served with an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) when they appeared at Pontypridd Magistrates Court in May.
The Asbo enforced an indefinite ban on drinking in public places, which included pubs, and was the first of its kind in the country.
Speaking to BBC Wales Mr Hughes said: "If the case may be that we've got this Asbo for life, where it means we can't go to pubs, functions, whatever, I think we've been hard done by and I will definitely be going onto my solicitor and appealing against it."
After hearing about the ban Gareth John, executive officer at the Licensed Victuallers, (Wales), said: "This is the law so it's a criminal act for this couple to go into a pub. It's good for the trade that there is a clamp down on these people and we strongly support exclusion orders."
