Magnus Wilson, ex-group operations director at Orchid Pub Company, plans to acquire a number of pubs across the north-east of England over the next five years after acquiring a third site in the region for his DT (North East) vehicle.

Wilson, who was also managing director of Orchid’s Parkmill Pub Management operation, has acquired the Ivy House pub in Worcester Street, Sunderland.

He also owns both the Borough pub in Sunderland city centre and the Cottage in nearby Cleadon, and plans to invest £400,000 in his
latest acquisition.

He said: “The Ivy House is an iconic pub in this city, but, unfortunately, it has had a significant lack of investment in recent years, which it badly needs. The investment programme we’re implementing here will give the pub the attention it deserves and the people in the area a neighbourhood pub they can enjoy.”

Mark Worley, associate director at Christie+Co, said: “We are delighted that Mr Wilson is investing heavily in remodelling and refurbishing the Ivy House, and that it will carry on as a pub.”
