Luminar has new chairman
Luminar, the nightclub operator led by Peter Marks, has announced that Alex Geffert is to step down as chairman on 16 January and will be replaced by Bob Brannan, former group managing director of Whyte & Mackay and William Grant Distillers and former chief executive of Rangers Football Club.

Geffert was among the consortium that bought the former Luminar Leisure business when it was placed in administration in 2011.

Chief executive Marks said: “Alex has always been at the forefront of the late night leisure sector, running some of the most successful nightclub companies in the UK. Alex brought stability and direction to the company and without him Luminar would not be in the position it would be in today, proving that there is still a positive future for well run and well invested venues. We are delighted that Alex will continue to play a part in the business as a non-executive director.

“We are equally thrilled that Bob, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the product and service sectors with a proven track record in value transformation, will be joining as chair.”

Brannan

Brannan chairs three other businesses: Vets Now, Duncan & Todd (Opticians) and Richard Irvin Services Group.  He is also former chairman of Eagle Taverns.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining the board of Luminar at this exciting time in the company’s development. Peter and his senior team have started to transform the business with a strong investment programme already driving significant improvement in trading, proving there is upside in the UK nightclub sector for the strongest, most professional operators. I look forward to supporting the board to drive further progress.”
