Don’t miss the MA Beer Report 2026, which goes live next week.

The Morning Advertiser (MA) has taken a deep dive into the on-trade beer market and armed with data from our own exclusive survey on the price of pints across Great Britain, statistical expertise from NIQ and comment from other specialists, it is a must-read.

Despite the ongoing financial issues affecting every pub and bar across the country, opportunities will be available for the savviest of operator and we may be able to help point you in the right direction.

Across all of GB

Using data from our Pint Price survey, we have a breadth of statistics that include the average cost of beer in the on-trade across all regions of England, Wales and Scotland. These stats show the variations in what a pub or bar will charge for specific brands so you can see if you are the most expensive in your area or whether you should really be charging more!

Meanwhile, volume and value sales figures of all types of drinks are been collated with expert insight from Charlie Booth at NIQ, powered by CGA intelligence. This information is absolute gold and you need to study it.

The report uses a host of graphics to explain the details simply and there are also submissions from the British Beer & Pub Association, the Society of Independent Brewers plus a ‘Beer Trends’ section that shows what Christian and Alice Oglivy of Blind Jack’s – which won Best Beer Pub in last year’s Great British Pub Awards – talk about what they are seeing at their site.

Market disruption

Data from NIQ shows total beer volume sales fell 2.5% from last year while value sales rose.

Booth told The MA: “It is fair to say both the drinks and hospitality industries have faced more than their fair share of market disruption in recent years, and this is no different going into 2026. With consumer spend squeezed and venue operators battling challenges in the form of legislation and taxation changes, there is no shortage of headwinds to contend with.”
