The group said the new proposition would focus on “everyday great value” in community focused pubs, while allowing individual sites to retain their existing character and local feel.

The move brings together pubs that previously sat within Greene King’s value and carvery formats.

Value led offer

Clair Preston Beer, chief digital and commercial officer at Greene King, told the Morning Advertiser (MA): “We continue to invest in our core estate and set our pubs up for long term success with a clear focus on our customers.

“Cornerstone Pubs helps to strengthen our value led offering in local communities across the country, bringing together our existing value and carvery formats to enhance customer experience and drive operational excellence.”

Each pub will continue to be run by its existing team and remain connected to its local community.

Over time, some sites may introduce further changes, including menu updates, entertainment or refreshed branding.

Estate strategy

The move comes as Greene King continues to reshape its estate. Earlier this month, the pubco confirmed it was reviewing around 65 pubs for potential sale, following previous plans to convert or sell around 300 managed sites as part of a wider estate strategy.

At the time, Greene King said funds raised from disposals would be reinvested into its core estate, while some sites would move into its Pub Partners estate through leased, tenanted or franchise models.

The launch comes as operators continue to segment pub estates around clearer customer occasions, including accommodation, food, sport, community and experience led visits.

Lumina Intelligence’s UK Pub & Bar Market Report 2026 said operators were increasingly shaping estates around more defined missions as they look to drive frequency and protect spend.

It also follows a period of activity across Greene King’s wider portfolio. The group reported that applications to run its Pub Partners sites were up 26% year on year in the first half of 2026, reaching a record 1,449 applications.

The pubco also said occupancy across its Pub Partners estate stood at 97%, while it had invested almost £10m in upgrades and refurbishments during the first half, with a further £17m planned by the end of the year.
