Pub Breakfasts - New paninis, healthier beans and tomato ketchup offer

With all-day breakfasts catching on in the UK, Delifrance's pre-filled, pre-grilled Provencette paninis are finding favour with pub chefs. The Breakfast Provencette is filled with egg mayonnaise, Cumberland sausage, smoky bacon and tomato and can be cooked from chilled in five minutes and frozen in 11 minutes. Other flavours include ham and mozzarella or cheese and red onion. Marketing controller Lucy Pickersgill said: "There is significant demand for hot breakfast concepts that consumers can pick up at any time of the day."
Research by Heinz has shown that breakfast is the most popular meal occasion for eating beans, with 67% of consumers wanting to eat beans with a full English, while 54% like to start the day with beans on toast. An excellent source of calcium, magnesium and phosphate, as well as being high in fibre and with no artificial sweetners, it's little wonder they're called superbeans. Heinz Baked Beanz are now even healthier as Heinz has launched a reduced sugar and salt variant, available in 415g and 2.62kg tins. The beans have 50% less salt and 25% less sugar compared to standard Heinz beans, despite the fact that Heinz beans already contain 30% lower levels of salt and that the Food Standards Agency has officially classed it as a low-sugar product.
Meanwhile, as research by Geronimo found that Heinz Tomato ketchup was the eighth most desired brand in 2005, Heinz cites its own "Out of Home Condiments Survey" (2002), where nine out of 10 consumers said they preferred Heinz Tomato Ketchup to any other brand. The company is urging pubs to offer a "quality point of difference" for consumers and provides a range of promotional materials, including new merchandiser units with a bottle carrier and a section for sachets to be displayed. Pubs in the "Heinz Table Top Mega Deal trial area" can buy two cases of its 342g tomato ketchup bottles and get one free.
