Heinz meanz top prizes in new breakfast promo

Heinz is celebrating the central role of Baked Beanz as part of the great British breakfast by launching a series of initiatives for the trade and consumers as part of a Champion of Breakfast campaign.

Heinz has produced a new instant-win on-pack promotion for the trade. Until 30 October, every tin of Heinz Baked Beanz will have a special peel-off label attached which offers caterers the chance to win a kitchen makeover worth £5,000 and one of 100 hotel spa breaks.

The consumer promotion gives a scratchcard to every customer who buys Baked Beanz with a breakfast and offers the opportunity to win a seven-day family holiday in Majorca.

Other Champion of Breakfast prizes include exclusive branded key rings, which are received by competition winners on the spot.

As well as scratchcards and key rings, the kit will contain a poster, window sticker and counter card announcing the promotion.

Heinz brand marketer Tal Drori says: "The aim of the promotion is to highlight to caterers and consumers that Heinz Beanz are an essential part of the traditional cooked English breakfast.

"Research shows seven out of 10 consumers are prepared to pay a premium for Heinz Beanz, offering significant profit opportunities."

The promotion has been trialled in three outlets in the south-east.

Jacqui Hollingsworth has been landlady of the Plough in Upminster, Essex, for two years.

Heinz Baked Beanz has always had an important place in her food offering as part of a full English breakfast and as a side order on the children's menu.

Jacqui explains that the aspect of the promotion that works best for her customers is the holiday: "The prize of the Majorcan holiday raises a great deal of interest among my customers and significantly increases the number of inquiries about our breakfasts.

"Everyone is over the moon when they win one of the on-the-spot prizes - it creates a really nice atmosphere and makes the winners feel good, which can only help them feel even better about the pub and improve our trade."
