Food honours for Shep's pubs
Two Shepherd Neame pubs have received accolades for their food offering, in the pub company's awards.
The King William IV, in Benenden, was named Pub Restaurant of the Year and the Old House at Home in Dormansland, Surrey won the Pub Food of the Year category.
King William IV licensees Bill and Jacqueline Tipples won a short break in Padstow, Cornwall, where they will be able to sample some of TV chef Rick Stein's fine seafood cuisine.
The judges praised the hard work and commitment involved in establishing the pub's reputation for food and the menu boasts a selection of traditional, English food created by Bill and Jacqueline from local suppliers. Dishes include king scallops wrapped in bacon with a saffron sauce, herb crusted lamb served with dauphinoise potatoes and pancakes filled with pears in calvados.
The catering team is made up of two chefs, Bill and Jacqueline's daughter Amy Tipples and Vaughan Crocker, supported by sous chef Nick James.

The pub, in West Street, Dormansland, is well-known in the area for its food, and tenants Trevor and Tina have been rewarded for their efforts with an overnight stay at the luxury Cliveden House in Taplow, Berkshire, courtesy of sponsors KFF.
Judges were won over by the pub's popular beef stew with dumplings.
The awards are organised annually by independent family brewer Shepherd Neame to reward excellence in innkeeping skills and they were held at the Faversham brewery earlier this month.
