In just over four weeks time the curtain will come up on Publican Live.

The Publican's Pub & Bar Show has been completely revamped with a new look and some exciting new features.

One of the fresh elements in this year's event, being held at London' Olympia, April 2-4, is the Property and Recruitment Show, being run by The Publican and Daltons Weekly. This will have its own seminar theatre - offering sessions on everything from funding a property to training and career advice.

It's aimed at those already in the trade, those taking their first step into pub management and newcomers. Among the experts will be human resources and training specialists as well as companies that can help source finance for buying a pub.

In addition, pub companies such as Punch Taverns, Enterprise Inns, Admiral Taverns and Brakspeare will have stands giving visitors the opportunituy to sit down and have a chat about the pubs they have available.

For Brakspeare it will be the first time the company has exhibited at this kind of event. Marketing executive, Victoria Lochhead, who will be co-ordinating its stand, is looking forward to meeting potential tenants and lesees. "The event will offer a fast-track option for people and they come speak directly to our BDMs - it can be like a full-on interview," she says.

"We want people to come along and see what we can offer and some of the pubs we have and are hoping some vacancies will be filled."

Meanwhile Adam Smith, head of retailer recruitment, said: "We will have a team of people to talk through all aspects of the opporunities and support we offer. We are looking for the next generation of entrepreneurial business people."

And if you are still deliberating over how to deal with the smoking ban there will a range of advice and solutions to help licensees prepare before July 1. Oh and if you get thirsty, don't forget to visit the longest bar in the country - 48 metres long, complete with networking areas and state-of-the-art entertainment systems.

Registration is open at www.publicanlive.com and registering in advance means no queuing as badges are sent out in advance. Visitors have access to Publican Live and The Property & Recruitment Show.

Free tickets can also be ordered by calling 01923 690642.

  • The Property & Recruitment Seminar Theatre: Sponsored by the BII, a host of free seminars on everything from funding and property to training and career advice will be on offer. Some of the industry's leading professional bodies and well-known names will talk about what it takes to be successful in the pub trade, whether its your own business or as an employee.
  • What are the traits of those that succeed at business? It's a question that will be answered during top psychologist Ros Taylor's sessions - one on each day of the event. Ms Taylor, who has appeared on Channel 4's Big Brother (in a professional context) and is a columinst for Dalton's Weekly, will be also offering her own unique insight into how to succeed in business.
