A pub where a young girl was murdered will lose its licence after police asked a local authority to review it.

Haringey Council's licensing committee has revoked the licence of the Swan in Tottenham, North London following a catalogue of incidents which resulted in the shooting of 17-year old Annaka Pinto at the venue last year.

Police said there was evidence of crime, disorder, drug use and breaches of licensing hours all taking place on the premises.

Cllr Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for enforcement and safer communities, said: "The list of problems with this pub makes horrific reading and I am very pleased with this decision. We cannot have establishments operating like this, with little regard for the law or for the safety and well being of their customers or the local community."

Dave Gladwell, Inspector of Police Operations for Haringey Borough, said: "Where there is evidence of large scale disorder in licensed premises we have no option but to request that they are closed down."

Licensee Paul Bruce has 21 days to appeal following the ruling, which was announced on January 11.
