Upfront security defends itself
A firm that trains and provides pub doorstaff has defended itself against allegations of bad practice on BBC's Panorama programme.
Upfront Security, one of Britain's largest doorstaff firms, was alleged to have only provided 12 hours training, not the mandatory 24 hours. The programme showed a candidate referring to course notes in the exam.
Upfront boss Alan Morton said: "The example shown was based on a training session which took place in July last year. This was run under the previous arrangements, which were completely revised last August.
"We had been aware of some shortcomings which we addressed at that time. Since then we have considerably tightened up the invigilation process and carefully monitor the duration of training.
"An investigation by the awarding body found no evidence of malpractice. We carry out continuous evaluation of the quality of our training and will always make improvements if needed.
"We at the Up Front Group operate to the very highest standards in everything we do, including our training and examination procedures, so that we can play our part in maintaining and raising standards throughout the UK security industry."
