Star Pubs & Bars is offering its tenants a 30% discount on Sky Ultimate for the next three years if they stock a specified range of Heineken products.

The deal, which is worth an average of more than £3000 per year to participants, is open to new and existing Sky subscribers and includes commercial WiFi at no additional cost. It has been timed to enable lessees to offer televised sport before the start of the new football season.

New subscribers will also receive free Sky viewing until the football season starts on 17 August, standard installation and two Sky HD boxes so tenants can screen different matches simultaneously.

Existing subscribers with only one Sky HD box will also be able to receive a free second viewing card and box.

The offer aims to help lessees make the most of sport in their pubs and is backed up by regional roadshows and a step-by-step comprehensive guide on how to make TV sport profitable.

To qualify, tenants must stock Fosters Gold, Heineken & Desperados, three flavours of Bulmers and, where cask is on tap, up to two cask ale brands from the Heineken portfolio. They must also use Star Pubs & Bars premium packaged lager support package which provides lower product prices in exchange for exclusively carrying Heineken brands.

Star Pubs & Bars trading director Chris Jowsey said: “Televised sport is a fantastic opportunity for lessees to boost trade. The next best thing to being at a match is watching sport in the pub and it gives a real reason for customers to drink and eat in the pub rather than at home. However, Sky is a significant investment.

“In a difficult economic climate, just helping lessees cut costs isn’t enough. This activity takes a two-pronged approach to boosting profits for lessees, both reducing overheads and providing the expertise and knowledge needed to drive footfall and increase customer spend through televised sport.”

Jowsey added that Star have carefully chosen the range of brands lessees are required to stock – mainstream brands which are suited to social drinking occasions.
