Cumbria pub destroyed in blaze to reopen after £2m revamp

The Queens Head, Troutbeck, will reopen in April after a full refurbishment and with a significant portion of the pub rebuilt.

It was closed for nearly three years after it was almost destroyed when a blaze ripped through it in 2014.

Robinsons managing director William Robinson said: “It’s no easy feat restoring such an historic pub – it was of the utmost importance that we worked closely with the local council to ensure the most authentic restoration of the original building’s fabric.”

Drinks range​

The new Queens Head will have a large drinking area and bar serving a range of real and local ales, lagers, wines, craft beers and spirits with an additional focus on gin.

The menu will feature “hearty, classic pub food, created with provenance and served with flair”, as well as several customer favourites.

Warm, hearty meal​

Robinson added: “The Queen’s Head has never been a case of ‘reinventing the wheel’ and it will pick up right up where it left off – a cosy, family-friendly pub where you can enjoy a pint, a great night’s stay and a warm, hearty meal.

“The outpouring of support from local residents and previous customers has been brilliant and we can’t wait to welcome them back to the Queens Head this April."

The pub’s 10 rooms have also been refurbished and are available from £110 per night.
