An additional pub for the JW Lees estate and an iconic community pub are among the biggest and best pub deals in December.
Casa Matta, Weaverham, Cheshire
JW Lees has grown its estate in the north-west by acquiring this pub, which was trading as Casa Matta until it closed in September and will now revert to being a traditional pub trading under its original name, the Hanging Gate. The site will now be integrated into the JW Lees business and will benefit from capital investment early in 2017.
William Lees-Jones, managing director of JW Lees, said: "We are proud to be welcoming another new pub into the JW Lees family and we remain hungry for acquisitions of both managed and tenanted pubs, as well as hotels in the north-west."
Site vendor Trevor Sayle added: "The property had been let to the New Moon Pub Company, which unfortunately went into administration. I have strong connections to the village and really wanted to make sure I secured a good future for this property, which would enhance village life."
Casa Matta’s freehold was marketed off a guide price of £650,000 by Fleurets and the premises contained an open-plan restaurant, as well as car park and gardens.
