Chef & Brewer has asked customers to create their own vegetarian dish to feature on the brand’s menus.

The chain, which operates 136 sites across the country, said it was looking to strengthen its vegetarian offer after performing research that found 46% of Brits ate less meat than they did ten years ago.

Sally Whitaker, brand director at Chef & Brewer, said: “It’s interesting to see that Brits now eat less meat, but with the wide variety of dishes now available it’s easy to see why.

“While our vegetarian range is stronger than most, there’s always room for improvement and who better to decide what new dishes should feature on our menu than those who are going to enjoy them?”

Five starters and five submitted main courses will be shortlisted, with a public vote to decide the winners, who will receive a Le Creuset Kitchen Set.

Entries close Sunday 11 October.

Unimpressed

Recent research reported that vegetarian customers were unimpressed with the amount of vegetarian Christmas menu items available, with further research claiming vegetarian and vegan dishes were set to become more mainstream over the next few years.
