Stonegate Pub Company brand Slug and Lettuce is launching a low calorie limited edition menu for January.

It has been created as a reaction to the increasing popularity of the ‘Under 500’ calorie section on the current menu and will include four new dishes, also under 500 calories.

A spicy pork pad Thai with slices of pork, peppers and noodles marinated in oriental spices and topped with edamame beans, spring onions and pomegranate will feature with 439 calories; a beef stroganoff with basmati rice contains 442 calories; jerk chicken skewer salad has 410 calories and a seared salmon dish with three-grain risotto holds just 439 calories.

Healthier outlook

"It seemed fitting to introduce four new dishes to the existing ‘Under 500’ section in January, especially when people look to start the year with a fresh, healthier outlook," said senior brand development manager for Slug and Lettuce Nicola Stuart.

"That said, the ‘Under 500’ dishes on the current menu have been extremely popular since they were introduced back in April 2013, no matter what the season or weather. It’s about creating a menu that has a range of options to suit our customers."
