Top chef Andrew Pern of the Star at Harome, North Yorkshire has opened new York restaurant venture Star in the City.

Located in the old Engine House on the edge of York’s Museum Gardens, the Star Inn the City will seat 130 covers with a focus on Yorkshire-sourced produce and all-day dining. The offer will span the day with breakfast, business lunches, afternoon teas and dinner.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to work with the Museum Gardens Trust to be able to bring a little part of the countryside to town in this landmark building, flying th White Rose flag and using its incredible produce," said Pern.

"We are aiming to offer the whole package - great food, beautiful setting, warm service and genuine Yorkshire hospitality."

The move sees Pern, twice-winner of the Publican’s Morning Advertiser’s Top Gastropub Award, reunited with friend, fellow Scarborough Catering College student and former rugby teammate Justin Brosenitz.
