Esteemed company: highlights of the final will be shown ahead of the FA Cup final

BT Sport is urging pubs to show their support for the BT Sport Pub Cup and air the highlights of this year’s BT Sport Pub Cup final ahead of the Emirates FA Cup Final on Saturday afternoon. 

On Tuesday evening , two of the country’s finest pub sides went head to head at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, for the honour of being crowned BT Sport Pub Cup champions 2017. The Liver Vaults from Liverpool met Hertfordshire pub, the Great Northern, in the final, with a £5,000 prize and a year of free BT Sport up for grabs.

Former Arsenal striker John Hartson (the Great Northern) and ex-England and Liverpool goalkeeper David James (the Liver vaults) each coached one of the sides, before BT Sport football expert Harry Redknapp presented the winners with their trophy.

Bruce Cuthbert, BT Sport director of commercial customers, was delighted with the success of this year’s BT Sport Pub Cup.

“We really wanted to create something that celebrated the vital role pubs play in grassroots football. To be able to give these pubs this experience is brilliant and you can see what it means to all involved.

“We have seen close to 1,000 entries from our pub customers and it has really reinforced the strength of the bond between pubs and football to us. The BT Sport pub cup will be back bigger and better in 2018,” Cuthbert said.
