WaverleyTBS teams get beer training
Cask Marque has been giving WaverleyTBS sales teams training in beer this month.
Staff from the wine specialist supplier have been educated at 11 training sessions on topics including the state of the draught beer market, understanding beer styles, planning the right range of beers for a pub, merchandising and marketing, growing draught volumes, the link between quality and sales, and how to address quality issues with confidence.
WaverleyTBS category manager (ale) Roy Silsby said: "I have had really good feedback so far on the content and delivery of the training sessions and it has been an extremely useful exercise for us."
Teams from Admiral Taverns and Punch have undertaken similar training.
Simon Eyles, commercial manager at Admiral, said: "I know all of our BDMs, including those with extensive
cellar experience, will have benefited from this training and will be able to carry more confidence in conversations relating to cask ale with their licensees."
Paul Nunny, director of Cask Marque, added: "Beer still represents more than 63% of wet sales in a pub so it's very important for brewers and retailers that we make the most of profit op-portunities in this sector.
"It is a very cost-effective training course as it is designed to be embedded into a monthly/quarterly sales meeting."
