TOP 50 GASTROPUBS 2016
10. The Truscott Arms, Maida Vale, London
Andrew and Mary Jane Fishwick's London pub the Truscott Arms has only been open for just over two years, but in that time it's become renowned for its food, created by ex-Dinner by Heston Blumenthal chef Aidan McGee. Customers can order traditional pub classics from the bar menu or dine in the pub's restaurant for more of a fine dining experience.
The Truscott Arms is also notable for the considerable amount of vegetarian and gluten-free options is offers, with diners reportedly flying from as far as Scandinavia and the USA to sample McGee's gluten-free fish and chips.
The Fishwicks opened their second site, the Truscott Cellar, in Belsize Park in September. The Cellar is the couple's contemporary take on a wine bar and restaurant, serving a range of small "British tapas" style plates.
Sample dishes: Rabbit with pickled carrots, parfait and rabbit sauce, veal with turnips, onions, mushrooms and smoked mash, English strawberries with lemon verbena curd, strawberry jam and sorbet.
