The return of former two-time Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World, Anthony Joshua, to the ring offers pubs and bars the opportunity to cash in.

Sports streaming service Dazn says the fight between “the biggest name in UK boxing” and US hopeful Jermaine Franklin, which will take place on Saturday 1 April, will also feature a full undercard to help draw customers into your venue.

“We are incredibly excited to be offering the opportunity to broadcast Anthony Joshua v Jermaine Franklin in pubs, hotels, casinos and other commercial premises across the land,” said Peter Parmenter, EVP Business Development, Dazn Group.

“Anthony Joshua is the biggest name in UK boxing, and he will face former Dillian Whyte foe, Jermaine Franklin, in an epic showdown on 1 April, live from the O2 Arena.”

Winning ways

He continued: “You will not want to miss this fight as Joshua looks to get back to winning ways paving the way to becoming a three-time World Champion.”

He said the undercard features some huge fights, including Felix Cash fighting for a European title and a big bout between Craig Richards and Richard Balotniks, “which promises to be an all-out war”.

This fight will be the first in Joshua’s new five-year partnership with Dazn to be streamed live on the digital sports entertainment platform.

Joshua lost to Oleksandr Uysk in August 2022 and said: “I am looking forward to stepping back into the ring. Mentally and physically, I feel ready. I want to put on a show and impress my coach as he has high standards. Franklin has a good style and great attitude, which he has shown in recent fights.”

No April Fool’s joke

Franklin said: “I’m ready to show the world why it’s time for me to take my place at the top of the Heavyweight division. Joshua had his time. It’s my time to shock the world. This fight isn’t going to the judge’s card. I will have win number 22 come 1 April. That ain’t no April Fool’s joke.”

Dazn’s Parmenter added: “The pub atmosphere paired with Dazn’s best in class production ensures a night of toe-to-toe action not to be missed.”

This pay-per-view event will be available through Dazn on Sky box channel 429. The early bird price for pubs and bars is £245, excluding VAT, which will be available until 27 March, with the standard price of £295 coming into play from 28 March onwards.
